Denel is a State-owned profit-driven corporation registered under the South African Companies Act. It consists of several predominantly defence-related divisions, with 10.500 employees. Annual sales last year were R3.98 billion (approximately US$400-million). The company's defence capability was established over 50 years ago when its oldest manufacturing divisions were formed. It is a world leader in artillery systems.
A broad range of Denel products and systems has been sold and is supported worldwide. The company has international alliances and joint ventures with some of the world's major aerospace and defence companies.
