Tactiq is a product development consultancy company specialising in embedded systems, software, electronics and user interfaces for demanding applications, including military systems. We reduce the time and risk of innovative product development with our expertise and partnership approach.

Specialist technical areas include real-time data acquisition and processing, imaging, active noise and vibration control, signal processing, safety-related software, and advanced microprocessor, DSP and FPGA solutions.

DEMANDING EMBEDDED SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT

Tactiq have developed successful systems, including military communications platforms, healthcare nuclear medicine systems and safety-critical automotive systems.

Developing embedded systems that are demanding in terms of complexity, performance, space, safety, cost or a combination of these requires a high level of expertise and experience. Using a total system engineering approach we produce an early design concept and top-level architecture to frame the development work and allow valuable modelling and simulation.

We support a phased development path into production and offer post-production support.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS SOFTWARE

Tactiq have software expertise ranging from top-level architecture design to device level programming and algorithm development, often for hard real-time applications (e.g. 2μs). Our highly disciplined software development process produces the fast, high-quality results expected by our military clients.

Working on a variety of microprocessors, DSPs and FPGAs, we have the breadth of knowledge and experience to bring to any new challenge.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS ELECTRONICS

The ability to design the optimum architecture and select the appropriate technology early in the process is key to minimising risk, and enabling modelling and simulation to prove out the design. Tactiq's expertise covers real-time systems, mixed signal designs, high-speed digital design, data acquisition and processing, power supplies, and highly noise-sensitive applications.

For each project we evaluate cutting-edge technologies alongside the more standardised, proven components and tools to ensure the right choices are made for the application. Tactiq is nominated as an alliance partner by both Freescale and Analog Devices, and also works closely with the majority of vendors, including TI, Renesas, AMD, NXP and Intel.

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS USER INTERFACES

A good user interface is vital for the success of a military system. User interface designs driven by the technology will fail if they are difficult to use in the field.

Tactiq has expertise in both user task analysis / user interface design and development of software architectures and implementation. This combination of skills will ensure user interface designs match the real needs of the military personnel, and the software platform is robust and flexible for further developments.

PARTNERSHIP

Tactiq take a partnership approach with clients, supporting their product development needs by collaborative engineering and taking on considerable responsibilities to share and reduce risk, including fixed-priced contracts.

Our systems adapt to mesh with the individual client's processes to support milestones and key phases typical of military development cycles. We actively manage risk from the outset with a risk register and mitigation strategies to focus efforts on retiring significant risks as early as possible in the development cycle.

Whether we are developing a client's core technology or updating a sub-system, we align our goals from the start to ensure success. We support clients in Europe, USA and the Middle East.
