The Tula Machinery Design Bureau Russian 9M111-2 Fagot anti-tank guided missile is currently being built under licence by the Bulgarian Vazov Engineering Plant in Sopot for export by Kintex. Details of the more recent 9M111M Faktoria are given in the previous entry.
The 9M111-2 is the second 9M111 missile variant designed for use with the Tula Machinery Design Bureau's 9K111 Fagot (Russian for Bassoon; US/NATO designations AT-4b 'Spigot') wire-guided missile system. The missile can be used with either the basic 9P135 or the improved 9P135M series firing posts in the man-portable role or, using the upper part of the firing post only on a small attachment post, in the vehicle-mounted role.
The 9M111-2 differs from the earlier 9M111 variant in having an improved sustainer rocket motor and a lengthened guidance wire to give a greater effective maximum range (2,500 m versus 2,000 m) and an improved lethality High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead to increase armour penetration (460 mm versus 400 mm).
Production as required. In service with the Bulgarian Army. Quantities of these missiles have been exported to undisclosed countries.
See Russian Federation and Associated States (CIS) entry in this section for the 9K111 Fagot (AT-4 'Spigot') system.
