GENERAL STRUCTURE

  • Universal transport-launching module

  • Control, navigation and communication equipment

  • Special all-wheel-drive cross-country chassis

UNIVERSAL TRANSPORT-LAUNCHING MODULE Universal transport-launching module is intended for storage, transportation and combat application of anti-tank guided missiles.

Launching module is constructed in several variants for customer's choice:

  • with two or four missiles;

  • application of different caliber missiles;

  • application of missiles with different types of warheads.

Fighting module with four missiles is designed as universal with the possibility of its loading on different wheel and track-type chassis, ships in case of possible overall dimensions with insignificant connection operations.

Launcher provides:

  • transportation of 12 missiles;

  • transfer to combat position and back with the lift of guide ways cluster for 4 missiles;

  • removal of the used transport- launching containers;

  • automatic reloading of 4 articles;

  • guidance within the range of angles:

-in azimuth +170°;

-in elevation +15°.

CONTROL, NAVIGATION AND COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT PN-S Guidance Device

PN-S guidance device is intended for surveillance of terrain, detection of targets, range measuring and guidance of missiles at a distance of 100 to 5500 m.

Guidance device includes:

  • television surveillance and sighting system with 2 fields of view;

  • built-in laser range-finder;

  • laser system of missile guidance;

  • system for control of axes parallelism and ensuring of mutual boresighting of all working channels; -detachable thermal imaging module (option). Operator's workstation

Operator's workstation provides:

  • automatic checkout of the equipment and missile readiness for firing;

  • control of the availability of ready-to-fire missiles and the missiles reserve in the ammunition stowage rack;

  • control of guidance process of the launcher and target firing. Firing results observation. Remote control panel

Remote control panel provides ATGM survivability enhancement through the universal implementation of CARACAL and portable launcher fire controllability by cable communication lines at the distance up to 50 m Radio station

The radio station has the purpose to exchange open and closed speech information and data in the band of 1,6 MHz up to 420 MHz with an increased secrecy and anti-jamming during its carrying by an operator. The radio station receives and transmits the following information types:

  • speech analogue information;

  • speech analogue information converted into digital one with a speed of 2400 bit/s with a voice coder, 16000 bit/s with a delta codec in USW and DCW bands;

  • speech analogue information converted into digital one with a speed of 2400 bit/s with a voice coder in a SW band;

  • data with a speed of 300, 600,1200, 2400 and 4800 bit/s in USW and DCW bands;

  • data with a speed of 300, 600,1200,2400 bit/s in a SW band.

ADVANTAGES OF CARACAL COMPLEX «Overflight mode» provides protection against laser jamming systems of the enemy. Missile controlled in «overflight mode» can be detected just on the last part of its trajectory while it is flying on the line of sight.

«Overflight mode» provides avoiding of «blooming effect» (image flashing) and noises in the field of view caused by smoke and dust after missile launching. Operator constantly has a target on the screen of remote control panel and keeps the aiming mark on the target. Direction of a laser beam

Missile is controlled by the laser beam, the direction of which changes by a special software of PN-S device, which defines the special trajectory of the flight of the missile in the «overflight mode».

CARACAL COMPLEX

The following perspective technical solutions are realized in the complex.

  • Target destruction in semiautomatic and automatic mode using built-in automatic target tracking device.

  • Built-in radio stations of new generation for exchange of open and secured data in the range of frequencies from 1.6 MHz to 420 MHz.

  • System for guidance device and launcher stabilization in horizontal and vertical planes providing firing in motion.

  • Built-in laser range-finder with measured range - 7000 m.

  • Booster and cruiser engines provide increased flight velocity of the missile and its firing range up to 5500 m.

  • Armor penetration with ERA is from 800mm to 1000mm of homogeneous armor depending on ATGM caliber.
