Designation:

RG-31 MMS / AGRAB

Info
Manufacturer: International Golden Group - IGG
Product type: Armoured Vehicles
Name: Self-propelled mortar

The 120mm Mobile Mortar System, AGRAB (Scorpion) is one of the company's latest initiatives.

The AGRAB is the result of an initiative by IGG in the UAE and aims to deliver accurate and devastating firepower over long ranges.

The AGRAB is fitted with the 120mm SRAMS (Super Rapid Advanced Mortar System), and is mounted on the RG31 Vehicle.

The vehicle is fitted with an ammunition handling system, consisting of two carousels, capable of accepting various types of mortar bombs. A total of 46 bombs (23 bombs in each carousel) can be stored in the carousels, with two additional ready round racks, providing space for up to 12 ready bombs.

An Auxiliary Power Unit is fixed to the vehicle to provide power to the SRAMS, Fire Control and Air Conditioning system during deployment.

Navigation

The AGRAB is equipped with a high performance Ring Laser Gyro Inertial Navigation System, type FIN3110, to navigate accurately to the deployed position.

The FIN3110 is a hybrid navigation system, combining other sources of navigation information, including GPS, to form a composite solution.

High performance navigation is maintained in the presence of intermittent GPS and a reversionary mode is available in the absence of GPS. The system provides accurate pointing to better than Imil.

Fire Control

The Fire Control System is an "all in one" Man Machine Interface/Fire Control Computer with touch screen control. It combines an exceptionally large touch sensitive screen with powerful processing and specialised interfacing all combined within a single unit.

The Fire Control System is capable of computing ballistic data for 120mm High Explosive, Bi-spectral Smoke Screening, Illumination, Infrared Illumination and ICM bombs.

The Arachnida Fire Control System is capable of integrating with most existing higher-level fire control systems to coordinate battery level firepower.

Prime Functions:

  • Mortar Laying

  • Algorithmic Ballistic Computations

  • Mortar Management

  • Mortar Commander Control

  • Higher Command Connectivity

  • Vehicle Navigation

  • GPS Management

RG31 Utility Vehicle

The RG31 Mk5 Armoured Utility Vehicle (AUV) is a left hand drive 4x4 armoured and mine-protected vehicle with a maximum combat mass of ± 14,000kg. The all-steel welded armour monocoque hull protects the crew against small arms fire and anti-tank mine detonations.

The 3-man crew (Commander, Loader & Driver) will be able to deploy the AGRAB in less than one minute to deliver firepower. The out of action time of the system is ± 30 seconds.

The AGRAB is capable of speeds upto 90km/h on open roads and 40km/h off road. A range of 800km on roads before refuelling is achievable.

Four 81mm Emergency Smoke launchers are mounted on the roof to deliver emergency smoke protection.

Ballistic Protection

  • Engine Compartment: STANAG (4569A) Level 1

  • Crew Compartment: STANAG (4569A) Level 2
