MRK-002-BG-57 Volk-2 mobile assault-reconnaissance Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) was created by specialists of the Izhevsk radio plant together with Uralvagonzavod. It is intended for the protection of the Topol-M and Yars missile systems.
The first prototype was shown in 2013, and in March 2014 a spokesman for the Russian Strategic Missile Forces announced that in the near future five ballistic missile silos will be protected by these mobile robots.
The weight of the vehicle is 1100 kg.

It can independently guide weapons, accompany and defeat targets in automatic and semi-automatic modes, conduct combat operations in difficult weather conditions, day and night, without demasking factors.
The tracked UGV chassis has a differentiated protection of the most important zones.
Dimensions - 3.7x1.8x1.4 m. The power pack with a gasoline engine provides the MRK-002 with a maximum speed of 35 km/h. Overcoming obstacles: a gradient of 45 degrees, a vertical obstacles of 40 cm, a fording of 50 cm deep. The road range is 250 km.
The control is carried out over a radio channel, protected from the EW assets of the enemy, at a range of up to 5 kilometers. In addition, there is an autonomous mode of following a given route with independent detection and detour of obstacles, memorization of the map of the terrain and landmarks.
As the weapon of the MRK-002 is a weapon station with a 360° traversing. It can be equipped with a 12.7-mm Kord machine gun with 300 rounds of ammunition, a 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun (500 rounds) or a 30-mm AG-17A (or AG-30) automatic grenade launcher.
The weapon station has a laser rangefinder, an armament stabilizer, a thermal imager and an electronic ballistic computer. It also implements the function of automatic tracking of up to 10 mobile targets. Additionally, a radar station for detecting ground targets can be installed.
Auxiliary power unit allows the complex to work autonomously up to 10 hours in motion, or in standby mode - up to 7 days.
The tracks provides the UGV with low ground pressure (about 3.5 KPa), so that it can move through any type of soil, including marshy, snowy and sandy. The stability control system allows, automatically applying braking and changing the thrust of the engine, to correct the control of the UGV when driving on a slippery surface or a surface with different coatings on the sides of the track.
