SIMNET XXI (Simulation Network Trainer XXI)

The SIMNET XXI contract is both an upgrade and a production contract. There are several hundred legacy SIMNETs currently fielded throughout the U.S. Army National Guard. Although these systems performed successfully as trainers, the ARNG requires enhancements to be developed to further train their soldiers on tactical maneuvers. A few of the required enhancements are upgraded visual systems through the integration of a 360 degree Commanders cupola using tactical vision blocks, new databases with more special effects, Commander’s Weapons Station with .50 Cal machine gun, coax machine gun, thermal reticles and controls, DIS compatible, SINCGARS radio functions for realistic crew operations, integration with ONESAF OTB 1.0, record and playback for after action review. Raydon has designed the upgrades to correct these training deficiencies and to reduce lifecycle costs through the use of commercial off-the-shelf hardware. This program included development and integration of networking multiple trainers for higher echelon training (i.e. section, platoon, or company, etc.). This program began in September 2001 and completed final fielding of three platoons in July 2003. The program proceeded on schedule and within budget with 13 trainers currently fielded.
