The Armored Reconnaissance and Assault Vehicle (BRShM) is intended for use as a vehicle of the special forces during counter-terrorist operations, rot territorial defense missions, escorting and guarding convoys. It protects the crew from fire of main types of small arms and the damaging factors of explosive devices.

The vehicle can be controlled both directly by crew and remotely. Remote control can be performed by the operator from a distance of up to 3 km via radio.

The vehicle is driven by a diesel engine YaMZ-4357-10 with a power of 215 hp, aggregated with a mechanical five-speed gearbox. Distributing box - two-stage, with interaxle locked differential and blocking wheel differentials.

Armament is a remote controlled weapon station, armed with an 30-mm automatic gun and a coaxial 7.62-mm machine gun. The fire control system provides a range of targets detecting in the daytime up to 6 km, at night to 3 km.
