It is a machine gun that is mounted alongside the main armament and used against suitable targets in order to save main armament ammunition. The main armament gun controls are used to aim the coaxially mounted machine gun or 'coax', as it is often called. This machine gun is usually of small calibre (7.62-12.7 mm). Most modern battle tanks are armed with 7.62 mm coaxial machine guns. |
