Samsung Thales was formed in February 2000 as a joint venture between two of the world's outstanding electronic companies, Samsung Electronics and Thales, (formerly Thomson/CSF). In its first year of the joint vent Samsung Thales generated 217 billion won in revenues with 745 employees.

Samsung Thales Co., Ltd. has developed, modernized and upgraded fire control systems: Korean Gunner's Primary Sight(KGPS), Korean Commander's Panoramic Sight(KCPS), and Korean Ballistic Computer System(KBCS). These systems provide excellent performance on any battlefields, especially under adverse conditions such as fog, smoke, dust, total darkness or rain. After months of untiring efforts, Samsung Thales has become the first to build the most advanced 2nd Generation FPA(Focal Plan Array) thermal capability into the CPS.
