Electric Pointing and Stabilisation Systems for Light Turrets

Utilisation

These pointing systems intend to drive and stabilise tank turrets weighing from 2 to 6 tons. They comprise an electric drive, a stabilisation unit (computer and sensors), elevation and azimuth reducing gears.

Characteristics

Electric pointing and stabilisation systems provide turrets with a number of benefits compared to previous electro-hydraulic solutions:

Reduced target acquisition and engagement times

No more risk of hydraulic fluid leakage

No risk of fire and explosion due to vaporised fluid

Increased MTBF

Easier maintenance requiring no special tools

Silent operation

Low thermal signature.

They provide the tank with actual fire-on-the-move capability with enhanced hit probability, whatever the range and terrain profile, thanks to significantly improved pointing accuracy.
