Mobile self-propelled artillery vehicle Floks was first presented at the forum-exhibition "Army-2016".
The main armament of Phlox is a new 120-mm weapon that combines the capabilities of long-range guns, howitzers and mortars. Therefore, Floks can hit enemy targets, located at a distance of 10 km to just a hundred meters, both conventional artillery shells and mines.
The base for it is the truck of the Ural family. According to the developers, it should completely replace the outdated towed guns of the same caliber in the Russian army.
The main advantages of the vehicle are:
- high mobility
- short deployment time, about 30 seconds
- the short time to leave the post-fire position
- automatic fire control
The chassis cab is armored, protects against small arms and splinters. On its roof there is a remote controlled weapon station, armed with a 12.7 mm Kord machine gun.
The gun has vertical guidance angles in the range from -2 degrees to +80. Thanks to this, the mortar can not only hit targets at a range of up to 10 km along a trajectory like a howitzer, but also hit targets with direct fire, like conventional cannons, and even throw mines, like mortars.
