Mahindra Defense first introduced a new Light Bullet Proof Vehicle (LBPV) at the Defexpo 2018 in Chennai, India.

Developed by Mahindra Defense Systems Limited, LBPV has a crew of two people (the driver and the commander) with additional space in the rear for two or four other military personnel. The vehicle is designed for use by Indian military and paramilitary units.

According to the company information, the new vehicle can easily be reconfigured for various missions thanks to the modular internal layout.

During the exhibition, was demonstrated variant equipped with the GUARDIAN 2.0 RWS, armed with a 12.7-mm machine gun, developed by ESCRIBANO Mechanical and Engineering. The system is stabilized and can work at day and night. The tasks to be performed include surveillance, target identification and tracking. Ballistic calculations for shooting are carried out by the onboard computer, that allows to increase accuracy of shooting. GUARDIAN provides short-range and medium-range targets with high accuracy, it is a cost-effective solution to protect against asymmetric threats.

The level of ballistic protection of the new vehicle be changed depending on the requirements of the end user, but, according to Mahindra, this can be STANAG level 2.

LBPV has a length of 3200 mm, a width of 2200 nm, a height of 2300 mm. The maximum speed is up to 110 km/h.
