THE DRIVING FORCE OF DEFENCE Established in 1975 through mergers between some of Europe’s leading commercial vehicle manufactures Iveco became the first, truly pan European commercial vehicle manufacture. Through it’s specialist Defence Vehicles Division Iveco is now a world leader in the design, production and support of both armoured and soft skinned military vehicles. Armoured Fighting Vehicles In partnership with Italian armaments manufacture Oto Breda, Iveco has developed a range of highly acclaimed wheeled armoured vehicles. The 8x8 Centauro family, 4x4 and 6x6 Puma reconnaissance and liaison and some of the most technically advanced vehicles of their class in the world. The range is further complemented by the tracked Dardo infantry fighting vehicle and Ariete main battle tank. Multirole Light Vehicle The most recent development in the armoured vehicle range is the Multirole Light Vehicle (MLV). An all new 4x4 tactical scouting vehicle specifically developed for the operational requirements of the twenty first century. This vehicle combines speed and protection with stealth and tactical versatility. MLV is light weight, armoured against small arms, shell fragments and mines and is readily air transportable: key characteristics required in meeting the increasing need for rapid deployment of troops and equipment. Already under consideration by the UK MOD for the Future Command and Liaison Vehicle (FCLV) programme, MLV is the benchmark for a technically advanced armoured reconnaissance vehicle to meet the demands of today’s global defence operations. Tactical Truck Range Iveco produce a range of tactical commercial and military off the shelf (COTS & MOTS) trucks unrivalled by any other manufacturer. Vehicles produced by the group are supplied world-wide and are in service with 11 NATO forces. Medium Multirole Vehicle The most recent addition to the range is the outstanding Medium Multirole Vehicle (MMV). This is a high mobility off road 4x4 truck with a payload capability of up to 6400kg. It is C130 and helicopter transportable without preparation and the cab area featuring Iveco’s unique dual role technology is easily armour protected. Ballistic protection including under floor anti-mine can be configured to meet levels 1, 2 and 3 without changing the cab profile. Available with three engine power ratings, three wheel base lengths and with manual or automatic transmissions the versatile MMV can be tailored to meet a wide variety of military uses. Extensive Truck Range Two separate ranges of 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 heavy duty off road trucks are also available. - The commercial Eurotrakker range complements the military Astra range. Eurotrakker can easily be adapted to a military specification and is suitable for many logistic roles.
- The Astra range has been specifically designed for military purposes. These vehicles combine high tactical and strategic mobility with the ability to operate in extreme climate and environmental conditions. Models range from 4x4 cargo trucks to 8x8 DROPS, low height versions are also available that enable some variants to be C130 air transportable.
Simplified Logistic Support Cost effective logistics and premium after sales support are key drivers to Iveco's overall design philosophy. Maximum use of COTS components with proven reliability contributes significantly to lower life cycle costs, as well as minimising the cost of replacement parts. Computerised diagnostics systems for maintenance and fleet management are provided for most models and are essential tools for ensuring long and efficient vehicle life.
