General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) is a business unit of General Dynamics Corporation and conducts its business through European operating sites located in Spain, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. With more than 3,250 highly skilled technical employees, GDELS companies design, manufacture and deliver wheeled, tracked, and amphibious vehicles and other combat systems such as armaments and munitions to global customers. The Group is the combination of four entities – GDELS-Santa Bárbara Sistemas, GDELS-Germany, GDELS-Steyr and GDELS-Mowag - whose collective value was unified as a single business unit under a single European parent company in 2003. As one of the European leaders in the land combat systems sector, GDELS has focused itself on four specific divisions with the aim of producing greater synergies and coordination between its 12 plants. The four divisions are Tracked Vehicles, Wheeled Vehicles, Bridges, and Artillery & Ammunition, plus a network of R&D centers, and logistic and customer relations activities. Research & Development
GDELS invests in the continued development of the products and uses its expert know-how at four sites in Austria, Germany, Spain and Switzerland. The GDELS organization “Technology and Advanced Engineering Programs” directs and coordinates the technology and R & D programs between besides. Leading knowledge in the areas of protection, mobility and system integration is implemented in our products to the benefit of our customers. In the area of development, we live up to our slogan “Defense solutions for the future”. Every employee involved in development is aware of his/her responsibility and takes pride in the performance of our products for the protection of the soldiers in the field. The latest simulation tools are at our disposal; they enable us to test our developments virtually before the actual prototypes exist. Protection systems are developed with appropriate simulations, and verified by live testing the hardware. In-house testing departments are available for system-specific tests and enable us to hand over technically mature products to our customers. Logistics & Customer Service
The Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) programs of GDELS are tailor-made to each customer’s specific mission profile requirements. Specialist-trained personnel provide support for the user, both in-country and abroad, during the system procurement phase as well as when the product is in service. The GDELS ILS group offers an all-inclusive services, ensuring the uninterrupted provisioning and availability of spare parts for the complete product lifecycles. GDELS provides individual logistic and maintenance services -through active support in the operational area- during the entire service life span of a product. Experienced specialists compile specific maintenance concepts and user-friendly documentation for our customers. Our specialists advise our customers and prepare solutions that fulfill customer-specific requirements. Modern spare parts logistics ensure a high degree of availability. Maintenance and repair jobs are carried out on schedule in our modern workshops or at customer premises. Our retrofit upgrade programs are prolonging the service life of the product. |
