MBM Rugged Systems (formerly Lago Systems) has established an excellent reputation in the design, development and manufacture of fully rugged portable computers and data storage devices, primarily for military applications. The company’s products are proven in service and are used in some of the most arduous conditions experienced in airborne, naval, fighting vehicle and dismounted applications. The company operates from Brighton, UK and Parsippany, New Jersey USA.

The Termite range of highly rugged portable computers are believed to be unique in the degree of performance, flexibility and ruggedness offered in such a compact design. The standard Termite LT450 offers a wide range of interconnectivity options via its unique interchangeable connector block system, two PCMCIA slots are also available as standard. The unit features a sunlight readable 6.1” VGA display, with a 6.3” XVGA display also available as an option. A compact dual sealing technique ensures that the Termite will withstand submersion up to 2 metres.

MBM’s Design Team has the capability to develop products to meet specific customer needs. The LT465 is one of several such variants of the standard Termite, and has been selected for the UK’s Mortar and Artillery Fire Control Programme (FC-BISA). This unit features a touchscreen and flash memory in place of the standard fully sealed hard disk drive.

The LT600 is a fully rugged laptop, this is also now in service and has proven successful and popular with users, including the UK Challenger 2 regiments. Based on the Termite CPU, this machine features 3 x PCMCIA slots, two serial and two USB ports as well as VGA and Parallel ports.

Rugged Data Storage and Displays complete the company’s product range, and include the recently launched Series IV disk drives, offering 320 Mbytes per second and up to 147 GB storage capacity.
