Product type: Night Vision Devices
Name: Night vision device

Kent Periscopes' driver's night driving periscope is an electro-optical system which enables drivers of armoured fighting vehicles to drive at night, hatch down, without the use of artifical illumination and at speeds comparable to those achievable in daylight

The key features of PDP include:

  • Biocular eyepiece with a wide field of view

  • In-service on all British Army armoured fighting vehicles

  • Fully qualified to UK MoD standards

  • Combat proven under a variety of environmental conditions

The image intensified sight produces a visible image derived solely from the available natural light in the night sky. Originally designed and developed for the UK Ministry of Defence, the periscope is in volume production for the British Army and overseas armies for fitment to a wide range of vehicles.

The periscope incorporates a single micro-channel plate image intensifier tube and a binocular eyepiece, which gives a wide field of view and permits the driver to view the night scene with both eyes simultaneously.

The generous eye relief provides visual comfort to the driver and reduces the risk of facial injury when driving at speed over rough terrian. An iris control is incorporated in the periscope allowing the operator to manually set the desired image brightness control used to obviate the effect of bright sources such as flares and headlights.

The passive driving periscope is adapted to a complete range of armoured fighting vehicles by use of interface brackets. It is simple to install and operate, and has proven reliability. Full support documentation and maintenance hardware is available.

Kent Periscopes' night driving periscope is standard equipment on all British Army tracked vehicles and is in-service with armed forces worldwide.
