Lessons learned in Chechnya, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon show servers of self-defence weapons situated on the top of vehicles have become common targets of snipers and ambushes laid in urban engagements/operations. Ballistic protections currently used as shields are not the optimal solution for shooters’ safety.
NTGS has designed and is manufacturing the Cazadora Turret: a system that allows observing, acquiring targets and shooting while the Shooter remains inside the Vehicle, avoiding being exposed to the enemy’s fire. It can be mounted in light wheeled vehicles such as HUMMER, VAMTAC and BMR, without altering the original vehicle design.
CAZADORA turret is a weapon station that can be controlled remotely and is provided with rangefinder, stabilized shooting, optical tracking and (optional) thermal image.
It has been designed to allow its operation with Browning M2 machine gun or with 40 mm grenade launcher.
The platform is able to perform continuous 360º rotation movements; shooting sector ranges from -20º to 80º. This improves urban engagement capabilities, being able to gun down snipers in terraces/roofs from narrow streets.
The CAZADORA Turret can be mounted in UAV’s follow-up systems, in snipers’ detection systems, in mid- and long-range anti-tank missile launch platforms, etc.
The sensors integrated are: high resolution day video camera, IR range finder (200m range) and automatic aiming and shooting control system that allows ballistic corrections. Besides, it is equipped with a new electronic panoramic (360º) vision system that will permit the shooter to enjoy situational and environmental awareness.
The firing control system is installed inside the vehicle and is provided with an operator’s display and a joystick for the user’s manual operation.
Besides, it is a two-axe stabilized system (direction and elevation) that is remote operated by the shooter from inside the vehicle.
