The Diehl Group, Nuremberg, has merged their subsidiaries Bodenseewerk Geraetetechnik, Ueberlingen (BGT) and Diehl Munitionssysteme, Roethenbach (DMS) to better respond to the changing political global defence markets. The new company, Diehl BGT Defence, bundles the know-how of the missile system house BGT and the expertise of the ammunition supplier DMS to become one of the leading European defence companies. In addition to guided missile systems, high-precision, conventional and intelligent ammunition, the core business covers system solutions for reconnaissance, force protection, the homeland security tasks and training & simulation.
Leading products are the IRIS-T short-range air-to-air missile, the FPR air combat training system, the RAM ship self-defence system, the SMArt 155 sensor-fused artillery ammunition, medium calibre ammunition, nonlethal weapons like High Power Microwaves, Artillery Rockets, Warheads for missiles, UAV’s and Intelligent Ammunition to support MOUT.
